Fines

Fines are set as an incentive to return books on time. Please remember that, by bringing material back late, you may be depriving another reader of essential study time. For this reason, deadlines are stringently applied – e.g. for Overnight Loans, items returned up to 10.00:59 are ‘on time’, items returned at 10.01:00 are therefore ‘late’ and will incur fines.

A schedule of fines and other charges is posted in the library. A daily fine applies for standard loans. Overnight loans however, are subject to hourly fines. Fines must be paid immediately when the item is returned; the library has the right to add an administrative charge to any invoice raised in respect of unpaid fines. You can’t borrow any further materials until you have returned any overdue loans and/or paid outstanding fines.

If a reader believes that they have a reason why fines should be waived, they must supply written explanation or support from the appropriate authority – e.g, college Tutor or Director of Studies, college nurse or other medical staff, or senior member of the Faculty of Music.

REMEMBER: ALL FINES ARE AVOIDABLE !!
